About the role
Nadu, part of The Nutmeg Group, is a Tamil and Sri Lankan restaurant and bar in Stokes Croft, Bristol, known for its food, cocktails and rums. We are looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the restaurant. You will lead and develop the team, make sure every guest receives an excellent experience, and manage the restaurant's operational and commercial performance.
What you’ll do
- Manage the day-to-day running of the restaurant and bar, leading services from the floor
- Recruit, train, develop and motivate the front of house team
- Plan rotas and manage labour costs in line with the restaurant's targets
- Maintain high standards of service, and handle guest feedback and complaints professionally
- Work closely with the head chef so the kitchen and the floor run as one team
- Oversee cash handling, end-of-day reconciliation, and bar stock control and ordering
- Ensure compliance with licensing, health and safety, food safety and allergen requirements
- Drive sales and bookings, including the group's events and membership scheme
- Report on the restaurant's performance to the group's leadership
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or Assistant Manager in a busy restaurant or bar
- Strong leadership skills, with a record of building and developing teams
- Commercial awareness, including managing budgets, labour costs and stock
- A good working knowledge of licensing law, health and safety and food safety
- A Personal Licence, or a willingness to obtain one
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- An interest in South Asian food and drink is desirable
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
