Bombil wins Regional Restaurant of the Year
The Bedminster restaurant, which brings the food of Bombay to East Street, took the South West title at the Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards 2026 in London on 12/10/2026.
Bombil has been named Regional Restaurant of the Year for the South West at the Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards (ARTA) 2026. The award was presented at the ARTA grand finale at the London Hilton on Park Lane on 12/10/2026, where the Bombil team collected the trophy and certificate.
The restaurant was one of four nominated for the South West title in September. Often called the “Oscars of the curry industry”, ARTA is a nationwide celebration of British Asian cuisine, recognising restaurants, takeaways, cafés, chefs and hospitality professionals across the UK.
Bombil opened on East Street, Bedminster, in 2024. Its menu draws on the cooking of Bombay, from spicy street food to traditional delicacies.
It is one of five Bristol restaurants in The Nutmeg Group, founded by Raja Munuswamy, alongside Nutmeg in Clifton Village, Nadu on Stokes Croft, Kal Dosa on Gloucester Road and Nutmeg Street Kitchen on St Augustine’s Parade. The win is the group’s second regional title in two years, after Nutmeg was named a Regional Champion for the South West by the British Indian Good Food Guide in 2025.
Bombil is open from Tuesday to Sunday, and tables can be booked through its website.
